1st impressions: lush rouge henna
you don't know how tempted i am to to throw some color in my hair. orange red tones for fall though! but hair dye is so strong yawl. my hair always takes an L whenever i grow out color. it takes a minute to bounce back from the processing so a no for me ... for now.
the guy in lush cosmetics was convincing enough to make me want to drop the $27 to go the all natural dye route. henna is a plant w/ an all natural coloring trait called lawsone. when mixed w/ cocoa butter, herbs + EOs it's used to color hair + adorn skin.
notables:
smells good. i used lush's caca rouge color "for a traffic stopping-red." my hair is thick + dense so i'm not expecting bright end results. finer hair, i noticed, takes the color really well
$27 is steep for 2 applications … nah
tricky prep - takes a minute to get the consistency right. add hot water, stir + keep warm enough to apply to hair but it dries into crumbles quickly
messy application - plastic gloves, newspaper, old t-shirts, you'll be straight.
all natural
defined curls idk i had + made detangling easier
no color change yet - maybe after some sun?
color update coming.
color update:
used 1 app. no color change except my 3 random gray strands. hair felt good after using, wasn’t drying. wouldn’t buy it again for the price tag alone.
